We loved having our 2-year-old grandson Kenyon with us for two weeks. Before he came, I pulled out and washed our small wooden kitchen with all the plastic food and dishes and the McDonalds for him to play with. He loved it all – especially the wooden fruits and vegetables I bought for him to practice cutting up! It was amazing to me how long he would play by doing the same things over and over and over again.
Another great Christmas for the Brown Family! Oh, except that I started feeling sick in the middle of the night and spent Christmas morning lying down on the couch not eating anything…go figure. Luckily no one else got sick! Phillip, Loren, Anne and Kenyon all flew in to spend 2 weeks with us. So fun to have a little kid for Christmas – of course he loved opening presents! The best part of the day was visiting with Elliot in Peru. So fun to see and talk to him! Thanks to Madeleine for all the photos!
Tess and Madeleine gathered all the “Morgan Family” girl cousins at Tess’s apartment for a fun afternoon making gingerbread houses together. “We are a happy family!”
My brother Mark and his family moved into a beautiful new house this past fall and invited the family for Thanksgiving. We had a good time with all the aunts, uncles and cousins! Of course the whole dinner was yummy…but I wonder who made the delicious rolls? They were pretty much to die for!
This year we had the missionaries for dinner Halloween night. I wondered if they would be up for the traditional hot dog mummies, but I think it might just have been a refreshing change from the expected lasagna! 🙂 Of course we missed having Kenyon here, but the girls came over for dinner and Clark did his pumpkin magic.
Very spontaneously, we decided to drive up to Jackson Hole for the 4th of July weekend with four of my siblings and their families. We all got rooms close to each other and had a great time running the river, watching the parade, enjoying (BBQ program), and watching fireworks! In the picture below, I’m in the corner wearing the brown hat and Alan is in directly in front of me. Our family filled up 2 boats! My dad would be so proud of all of us…he loved river running!
Christmas is always wonderful. I just love the holidays which I consider to be all of November through December. I always look forward to it and then amazingly, when it’s over, I’m happy to put it all away and look forward towards another new year.
Even though we were sad to be missing Elliot and Phillip this year, it was fun to have everyone else home for the weekend. With Kenyon as the center of attention, every meal was way more fun…definitely louder, between all the noise he makes and all of us laughing at his antics! He has pretty much become the only person we feel the need to take any pictures of…he is definitely the cutest person here! Thanksgiving Day Alan and Clark spent the morning playing dodgeball at the church and we made rolls at home. Then we all went over to Alan’s parents for a yummy smoked turkey dinner. We are grateful to be part of a big loving family.
Our street used to be a favorite among trick-or-treaters. I guess since all the neighborhood kids and their friends have grown up, things are just going to be quieter. Except for the horse, of course! This year as a definite first, we had a real live horse come trick-or-treating…good thing they brought along their own treat!
Our next door neighbors let us use their pool and we took Kenyon for his first swim…he loved it! You can tell I was having fun too! We spent the next day at the cabin and I got a cute foot picture.
